WeTalkMusic.online Is Evolving — Join Us on the Fediverse!

2 minutes, 1 second Read

Big changes are happening — and they’re for the better.

After running our community through a traditional WordPress-based social platform, WeTalkMusic.online is officially shutting down our old social site to make room for something bigger, more open, and built for the future of music collaboration.

We’re moving to the Fediverse — a decentralized ecosystem of platforms that connect together, allowing creative communities to interact seamlessly across different services.

This shift isn’t just a technical upgrade — it’s a philosophy:

No algorithms. No corporate lock-in. No walled gardens.
Just music, creativity, and real community.

🌐 What is the Fediverse — and Why Are We Joining It?

The Fediverse is a network of independently hosted platforms that can talk to each other.
Whether you’re on Mastodon, Pixelfed, PeerTube, or another ActivityPub-powered platform, you can interact across communities as if they were all one place.

For music producers, this is huge.
It means sharing beats, videos, sessions, ideas, and feedback across platforms — without needing to sign up everywhere.

🎛️ Our Mission

To connect music producers across the Fediverse.

We’re building a home for producers, sound designers, beat-makers, engineers, and audio explorers who want an inspiring, open, and collaborative space — not controlled by algorithms or owned networks.

We want to empower you to:

✅ Share your work freely
✅ Collaborate across platforms
✅ Grow without algorithms deciding your reach
✅ Be part of a global creative community

🚧 In Development & Planned Services

These are the platforms we’re building or considering adding. Some are guaranteed, others are in evaluation:

🚀 What’s Next?

Over the next weeks, we’ll be:

• Onboarding members to Matrix
• Preparing WTMO-Tube & Funkwhale 2.0 for public launch
• Opening early tester access for creators who want to help shape the platform

If you care about a community-owned music space that won’t vanish because a company changes direction — you’re exactly who we’re building this for.
