Hey all, it’s been a while. Really happy with how this Melodic Deep House Number has come along. Any and all thoughts are welcome.

    • Really great track.

A mixnote. Your kick is really heavy and eats up a lot of space in the mix. It can be turned down or as a last resort, turn the deep lows on it down with a shelf.

Other than that it sounds really good.

      • Thanks Piv. Thinking a solve for that could be the reducing the db at fader or low shelf and adding transient to keep the level consistent.

    • That did it. 6DB shelf, and make up the gain with smack attack to reshape the kick a little. Might do some more work to the vocals, and maybe add a piano under the main synth for color. Or, maybe she’s…Read More

      • Realy nice track Scott, reminds me of some of Hot Chip’s deeper stuff which is a big compliment from me. Only issue I found was there was a bit too much saturation on the instruments, seemed like you could tone it down on the bass and leads for a cleaner sound – got particularly noticable around 2:40 ish, just felt like everything could be dialed…Read More

        • I’ll take that compliment, cheers mate! Also a huge HC fan here. Yes, there’s a filter that’s opening on the Dotted 4th main lead that’s driving that section. Will try leaving the filter movement but perhaps dialing back the decapitator a bit.

      • So much better. Melodic Techno is not kick focused, its just there making the groove. 🙂 This is by far the best you have made. The saturation Ben is talking about seems right. Do you open a filter a bit that makes your saturation sound more dominant, Now I didn’t notice it on first run. Maybe because I listen on speakers. Second time I noticed…Read More

        • I know what you mean about headphones vs speakers. Definitely more noticeable on the cans than monitors or hifi. Will see what reducing the saturation a bit does.

          • Took 7DB shelf out of the bassline too. Reduced the saturation and filter cutoff of the main synth to open the mix up. Added a vocoder to the vocal which found it being way more in-line with what I’d originally had in mind. Thanks for the feedback, made a big difference.…Read More

      • Yeah it’s pretty cool, I put in a prompt for hand drums and got decent results. Definitely going to try again

Temple01 Remix of AFL All Three Beggers

Hi all this is the first export its not quite right at this stage i need to sort the Kick out a bit as there is a throw off in the first part and also i prob loose the snare build in the break-drop and need to re do the levels and mixing but i wanted to post as i been playing with this track a while after…Read More

    • Really nice Remix, sound is also really really good. I wouldn’t mix it much, because it already sounds like you took care of most of that in production. dont know what is wrong with the kick?

      • Thanks Piv that helps yeah there is 1 small misplaced kik haha its probably not even noticeable it just needs nudge by a 16th

        • Sounds really good Tim, like the stuttery orchestral vox that come in at 1:50ish. Only quibble for me is the arrangement at the start, the beats come in at 0:20 then you go into a breakdown at 0:40, would like to hear more beats once theyve started, so maybe put the breakdown at the start before the beats come in.

Side note, I also appear to have…Read More

          • Thanks Ben you mean maybe have a long intro no beats upto 0.40 and remove the 0.20 kick drum etc ? Yeah I will try this thanks be good to hear a Remix from u too buddy

    • hey guys this is V4 i changed the intro as Ben suggested which i think sounds much better, add a few small fx to the good/evil vocal in places for variation, i removed the snare roll but kept the kick roll into the drop, i changed the reese bass sound for a more gritty feeling reese and did some sound work and added some thermal vst for a bit of…Read More

        • Nice one man, just listening now.

          – I like the longer intro on this one, and the extra vox effects are great.
          – Love the use of the OG bassline right before the drop, that’s awesome.
          – your bassline is sick for sure too, nice addition with the other one periodically
          – glitchy beat is great and the addition of the amen is perfect
          – great switch…Read More

          • Thanks John that great help I will check those bass level at the main drop too yeah maybe will try something at the end so the bass don’t cut to abruptly but happy u like it as I been playing about with it for some time 😀

            • Even as it is I would say this is a fantastic tune so don’t change much. 😊

      • So an Update on this track i added in some sub bass to support the basslines and give some feel factor i think Scott as right about the need for sub in this it’s just subtle but it makes a difference, also on the string parts in the break down and at the end i added a gating affect from Transit 2 which i updated today and thought would try it out…Read More

    • Hey Tim, sounds great. My only comment would be maybe it could use a little more action in the sub bass. The drum programming is top notch! Lovely.
