Ok, restarting this thread on the wall. Here’s what I think is my final version of my remix of Ben Hunt’s Midsummer. It’s D&B but not your regular style, more floaty. I tried to pay homage to the original while keeping it fresh.

That plucky melody at the start reminds me a little of Girl/Boy song by Aphex. Only a good thing. The snare seems to be poking out in the mix a little more, not sure if that’s because it’s on the dry side, or glue, or gain? But it could be in there. anit more i think. Structure and vibe is tops.

You can easily turn that kick 1dB down and remove some of the saturation/clipping on it. there is no need for it and your mix will get more clean low. It’s a common problem in your music that you overcook the kicks a bit. Anyway the rest sounds really good, and is the typical Ben Hunt style.

Lowered the kick and took some saturation off. Also renamed to Spellbound as it sounds less clunky…

Bass and kick is working nicely. Sounding like a mix between Herbert and Lindstrom. Which I would have to assume is something you’re going for. Great shuffle on the top loop hats. Not 100% sold on that last noisy lead after the break at 4:30. Feels really full compared to the airyness of the rest of the track. It worked earlier better as stabs.…Read More

Hey John Nice work i have to go back and listen to Been original but as for a DnB track i like this has nice vibes i liked that break down at 2.15 really cool the only thing i felt was the drums/percs could shine thru slightly around 3.30 area as there are the synths etc.. but this may be my taste overall nice work mate, BTW i haven’t forgotten…Read More
