Over the past 25 years, Psypox has built a strong reputation for delivering deep, intelligent, and dark progressive psytrance. Nikolai, the creative force behind Psypox, was also one-half of the successful Danish minimal psytrance project Bufo in the early 2000s.
Nikolai’s style has always been diverse, yet he has remained true to his roots in minimal and progressive psytrance.
The first Psypox release emerged in the early 2000s and quickly gained recognition, with tracks released on internationally renowned labels like Cosmic Conspiracy Records (CCR) and Zenon Records. These labels, based on the other side of the globe, became Nikolai’s primary platforms during those formative years.
He was an integral part of the thriving Danish psytrance scene that exploded around the early 2000s, laying the groundwork for what would become the hallmark Zenon sound.
As both Psypox and Bufo, Nikolai toured globally for years, performing alongside legendary acts such as Tetrameth, ShadowFx, Sun Control Species, Sensient, Grouch, and many others from the Zenon and CCR communities.
After taking a break from the psytrance scene, Nikolai has returned as Psypox, eager to continue innovating and experimenting with his sound, pushing boundaries while honoring his musical legacy.
